Flourishing or Failing

In our current age, it can be difficult to know the best way to bring up our children in the ways of the Lord. We know that children need our help to be guided towards the Lord, but in a culture that peddles a distrust of Christianity, how can best do this? As Christian parents, how can we help our children to flourish in the ways of the Lord, and what are the hindrances that might stop us from doing this?
The Bible is clear that we all have what we need, even from looking at creation itself, to be able to believe in the existence of God. For our children’s spiritual flourishing, we can provide the foot, the nurture, the environments, the protection they need – but it is also possible for us to abdicate, forget or be ignorant of what can hinder their spiritual development.

What If Learning
A website for teachers who want their classrooms to be places with a Christian ethos, whatever the subject or age group being taught. It explores what teaching and learning might look like when rooted in Christian faith, hope and love.
Narnian Virtues
A character education curriculum project that uses The Chronicles of Narnia novels, by C. S. Lewis, in the school curricula. Universal virtues (such as wisdom, love, and gratitude) exemplified in the Narnia novels, offer common ethical ground to the schools of increasingly pluralistic societies.
Science Guides
Science Teaching Guides which aim to cover all the material required by the National Curriculum for 11-14 year olds but also provide additional information from a Christian perspective.The teaching guides make clear the distinction between established science and the way facts are interpreted by those holding different beliefs.

10 Must Know Bible Stories
The Ten Must Know Bible Stories project partners with the Scottish Bible Society These assemblies are each linked to a Bible story and a health and wellbeing topic. You can choose to follow on from the assembly using our filmed mini lessons and standard resources.
Bible Society
The Bible Society has published a wide range of resources for use in secondary schools. These
- develop KS3 students’ Biblical literacy while they study Christian responses to the big questions around topics like the environment, suffering and poverty.
- include KS4 workbooks for all major specifications, allowing for independent study, peer and self-assessment. Bible passages and accompanying tasks allow for academic rigour and for students to develop a good level of understanding.

Free Assemblies – Big Start Assemblies
Free Assemblies – Big Start Assemblies has lots of ready-to-use assembly ideas, plans, media, games, scripts and songs.
There are 13 free Bible based assemblies covering ‘giants of faith’ and the rest are accessed with a subscription fee. The assemblies deal with important issues including friendship, anti-bullying, diversity, forgiveness and many more.

Christians in Sport
Christians in Sport have produced a number of resources designed to help teachers or people working in schools to speak to sportspeople in those environments. The assemblies are sport themed and are designed for use around major events and the lesson plans are for use in RS/RE lessons where possible.
